When I first began GAPS back in 2017 GAPS coaches didn’t exist, there were only practitioners. I worked with one fairly heavily for the first year. I felt confident in my understanding of the diet – I had a great cookbook to help me know what to cook – but I had many other questions regarding supplementation, odd symptoms and really just needed some assurance that what I was on the right track.
GAPS can be really intimidating and overwhelming. When I first found the diet and began reading about it I was both intimidated and overwhelmed. I did not at all feel capable of “pulling it off” in any regards. I also wasn’t sure I could get a then three-year-old to even eat the food. It took me almost a year of teaching myself to cook traditionally in the kitchen before I felt like I could even try to wade into the waters of GAPS.
The majority of my clients, if not all, come to me at rock bottom. They have tried many, many things, and they are weary. I was that individual and I understand that plight well. It is hard scraping bottom and not knowing what to do next. So if you feel you are here, this is a good place to pull in a Coach for encouragement, guidance and support.
Coaches are excellent at helping you navigate the logistics of the diet. We tend to know it, inside and out, and can help you navigate all aspects. If you are confused on starting with the Intro diet, full GAPS, No Plant GAPS or any other aspect you should certainly find a Coach to help you navigate. We have been trained to know where you should start depending on your specific needs.
Practitioners can also help you navigate the diet but the coaching position was created to take some of the weight off of the practitioners so they could focus more on the very challenging cases. They are also the ones who can help with supplementation. Often coaches and practitioners will work in tandem when a client needs the support of both. I would recommend reaching out to a practitioner if you feel you have gaping nutritional holes and need supplementation help as well as deep detoxification help.
You can find a Coach or a Practitioner on the GAPS.me website. I am actively taking coaching clients. Please contact me through my contact form if you’re interested in coaching. I also offer a free 20-minute Discovery Call where you can ask questions and see if we are a good fit.
If you’re struggling with any aspect of GAPS, please don’t hesitate to find a Coach or Practitioner to help.
